A Berry big network. (Berry farm)

A new client has a requirement for using handheld wireless devices (2.4Ghz) over a very large area. Approx 700m wide x 950m long. One of the major obstacles is the lack of power, so we have had to design and construct solar powered repeaters.

berry-farmEach repeater connects back to the main office where there is an NBN connection via a 5Ghz backbone. This makes sure that the 2.4Ghz network for client devices is not affected by backhaul traffic.

The 2.4Ghz wireless network is using Ubiquiti outdoor AP+’s, and a cloud key controller. The Outdoor AP+ devices are 48v, so solid state 12v to 48v converters are being used.

To give you an idea of scale, those white tunnels are approx 120m long.

At the completion of the job we were able to drive around the entire property streaming Youtube videos without any packet loss on our mobile phones, inside the vehicle.

Update: 20th Feb 2017 – 129 clients connected on one day in January. System still performing as required.
